Hindsight
is always a valuable tool, and I realise that if I had 'found' clinical
hypnotherapy a number of years earlier I would have been in a better
position to help my father manage his extreme pain as a sufferer
of osteoporosis. However, life gave me another extremely painful
nudge in the hypnotherapy direction when I fell downstairs and fractured
my spine. Visualisation and relaxation became a way of life during
my recovery, providing me with an alternative focus to my pain and
resulting in a huge amount of pain relief.
This enforced period off work gave me time to reflect which resulted
in my decision to give up a long career in Civil Aviation which
started as Cabin Crew (excellent background for helping clients
with Aerophobia) and cumulated as a specialist consultant to airports
and airlines worldwide on airport systems, to train and practice
as a Clinical Hypnotherapist.
I trained as a Clinical Hypnotherapist at The Clifton Practice
(CPHT) Bristol, one of the leading Hypnotherapy colleges in the
country who offer both the NCFE Hynpotherapy Pratitioner's Diploma
(HPD) and Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy (CBH) Courses. In addition
to the NCFE, the Hypnotherapy Society, the National Council for
Hypnotherapy, the National Council of Psychotherapy and the Association
for Professional Hypnosis and Psychotherapy accredits the college.
I am also a volunteer Clinical Hypnotherapist with the National
Phobics Society, a member of the NHS Directory of Complementary
and Alternative Practitioners and accredited by the National
Regulatory Register for Hypnotherapy.
