Recently
the media has become saturated with stories proclaiming the rise
of “infertility” and our increasing “need”
for medical intervention. It is now an unfortunate but common belief
that it's just not easy to have a baby, therefore, many couples
have lost faith in the natural process of conception and may rush
into medical testing and assistance.
With more and more women in high stress jobs it's really no wonder
that conception doesn't always occur immediately (disastrous in
our 'want-it-right-now' culture). Hypnotherapy can help the client
identify and process subconscious blocks that may be interfering
with conception. In a relaxed therapeutic environment, the hypnotherapist
and the client work together to bring about positive attitudes and
beliefs regarding childbirth and motherhood.
Clinical trials in Israel found that in a study of 185 women 28%
who were hypnotised for the IVF treatment became pregnant compared
to 14% of women in the control group. The study concentrated on
the effects of hypnosis for the IVF treatment and the embryo transfer
only, because previous studies had concluded that the stress of
the procedure resulted in prevention of the successful implantion
of the fertilised egg.
